Accessibility
What works, what does not, and who to tell
We support people with disabilities for a living. A website that locked some of them out would be an odd way to go about it — so here is an honest account rather than a badge.
The standard we build to
This site aims for WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We consider it partially conformant: most of the standard is met, and the parts that are not are listed on this page rather than left for you to discover.
We do not use an accessibility overlay widget. They do not deliver what they promise, and disabled users consistently report they get in the way.
- Every image carries a real text description, or is marked decorative when it carries no meaning
- The site works from the keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a skip link
- Text meets 4.5:1 contrast, and buttons and input borders meet 3:1
- Form fields use real labels, not placeholder text standing in for one
- Nothing moves, flashes, or auto-plays
- Layout reflows to 320px without horizontal scrolling
- Motion respects your system's reduce-motion setting
Known limitations
Everything below is something we know about and have not fixed yet.
The homes pages have no photographs yet
Descriptions are written out in text, so nothing is lost right now — but when photos land they will need real alt text, not filenames.
No Easy Read version of our service information
We support adults with intellectual disabilities and this site is not yet written in a form all of them can read on their own. We think this is the most important gap on the list.
No Spanish translation
A machine-translation widget would produce pages nobody can find in search and would mangle terms like supported living and person-centered plan. We would rather do it properly than quickly.
Capability codes rely on hover or focus for their full meaning
The A/B/M/MH codes on the referrals page expand on hover and focus, and are explained in a list below the table. A plain-text column would be better.
Tell us when something breaks
If any part of this site keeps you from doing what you came to do, we want to hear it — and we will tell you what we are doing about it rather than closing the ticket silently.
