About
We run three houses. That is the whole business.
Ayale Care Center is a small Oregon provider. We are not a chain, we are not expanding into six counties this year, and the people who own the company still answer the phone.
Why we started
Ayale Care Center was founded to bring quality, person-centered care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities — starting in Jefferson County and now across the Portland metro area too.
Our provider, Amanu Haile, has spent more than fifteen years directly supporting people with I/DD, seven of them as a provider. That is a long time to watch what works and what does not, and to decide the difference is worth building a company around.
So we keep the homes small — a real home, not a facility. Caregivers who stay long enough to know the people they support. Documentation that is genuinely used, so the next shift, the doctor, and the case manager all see the same picture.

How we work
Four things we actually hold to
It is their house
Residents have keys, choose their own bedrooms, decide what goes on the walls, and can shut the door. Staff work in someone else's home and behave accordingly.
Small on purpose
Up to three people per house. Small enough that a caregiver knows what a bad morning looks like for a specific person, and can do something about it.
The same faces
Turnover is the single biggest predictor of bad outcomes in this work. We pay above the local median and promote from within because continuity is a clinical concern, not an HR one.
Write it down
Every shift is documented against the person's ISP goals. Not for the binder — so the next shift, the doctor, and the case manager all see the same picture.
Licensing & compliance
The unglamorous part
Case managers ask these questions eventually, so here they are up front. Ask us for license numbers, our most recent inspection results, or proof of insurance and we will send them.
- Licensing
- Licensed by Oregon DHS, Office of Developmental Disabilities Services
- Background checks
- Every employee clears a DHS criminal background check before their first shift
- Staff training
- CPR, First Aid, medication administration, abuse prevention, and person-centered planning — paid, before the floor
- Incident reporting
- Reported to ODDS and the person's services coordinator per state timelines, with family notified
- Insurance
- General and professional liability, plus commercial auto for resident transport
